Election Manifesto on behalf of

 Johnny Huggins

About myself: ( less 30 words) 23

Committed activist in social and community affairs.

Life long interest in Industrial Relations and staff welfare.

Highly experienced in people and project management.

Why I would make a good trustee: ( less than 200 words ) 198

I appeal for your vote and if elected you may justifiably repose confidence, reliability and trust in me to act in a responsible way to represent the best interests of all members.  I will try to ensure that the return on assets invested will be sufficient to pay the pensions and entitlements of all members.  I am    aware of the trauma that pensioners are going through and of concerns of working staff about future benefits.  Substantial fees to financial advisors and investment managers must be justified by better returns on the assets invested.  An improved consultation process between the fund management committee and all members is required.

On a personal front my commitments are as follows:

Trustee of the Medical Provident Fund.

Committee member of the Retired Staff Association, Cork Branch.

Executive committee member Passage West GAA Club.

Chairman Community Group of the Harbour Parishes Assembly.

Delegate to Diocesan Committee for Eucharistic Congress 2012.

Members Forum Educational Building Society.

Fellow of the Institution of Engineering & Technology.

Former Chairman TEEU Supervisor Branch.

Hoping the above is useful in deciding your voting preference and give me a vote if I can contribute to the trusted administration of the Fund.

ESB Defined Benefit Contribution Scheme Trustee Election

Election Manifesto of Paddy McDonald, ESB Pensioner

My Background

  • ESB 1961-2000
  •  Work experience: Senior Internal Auditor, District Accountant Dublin South andDublinCity, IT Systems Development Manager, strategic planning manager and  Project Manager/Financial Consultancy Bid Manager with ESB International
  • Member ESB Retired Staff Association(RSA);  member General Purposes Committee(GPC) and National Executive

Why I believe I would make a good Trustee

  • In my 39 years’ service  in ESB I have demonstrated that I am a person that all Scheme members, whether those on pension, or still ESB employees, can have complete confidence in my integrity, competence and determination to do what is right
  • My background-both academic and through work-experience in audit, accountancy and financial matters gives me a good understanding of the complex technical  issues surrounding our Fund.
  • This background added to experience of these issues gained in the last few years as a member of the GPC equips me to make an effective contribution to trustee decision making
  • I understand and appreciate the worries and concerns many Scheme members have about the future and the many uncertainties and risks
  • I realise the vital importance of maintaining a strong, secure and solvent Fund to the wellbeing of so many-employees, VS members/pensioners / spouses/children.
  •  I give a solemn commitment, if elected, to work constructively and impartially towards these goals with the other Trustees in the interest of all members
  • I am prepared to devote all the time, energy and dedication required to effectively serve all members over the next five years
  • I am asking for your No. 1 vote in this important election
